Our Story
It all started on April 25, 2012—though, depending on who you ask, it took a little while to connect the dots.
Their friends Lauren (maid of honour) and Nik (groomsman) were newly in love and bringing their circles together for nights out. One such evening, Stevie showed up with a cane (recovering from knee surgery), long curly hair, and a cool, mysterious energy that didn’t go unnoticed. Michelle, with a boho outfit, feather earrings, and a bold blonde bob, made a memorable impression. They danced, laughed, and even shared a kiss at the Drum & Monkey… though it would take Stevie a while to realize that the girl from that night was Michelle.
Life carried them in different directions. Stevie moved to Los Angeles to pursue music, and Michelle had a brief stint in Australia—for what we’ll just say was a year of personal and professional growth. There were a few missed connections—an almost-date, a misinterpreted message, a declined cuddle invite—but the spark never fully went out. Then, one night on Stevie’s birthday, something shifted. They ended up hanging out all night and spent the entire next day together—and the connection deepened into something more.
They bonded over music, spirituality, meditation, dogs, the occasional hike, and a shared love of being silly. On August 3, 2019, they made it official. Not long after, Michelle joined Stevie and his parents on a family trip to Costa Rica—and quickly fell even more in love, not just with him, but with his incredible family.
As the pandemic arrived, social distancing brought them closer—literally. Michelle began spending more and more time at Stevie’s, and soon they moved in together. Since then, they’ve built a life that’s held both joy and deep resilience. They’ve supported each other through life’s harder seasons—grief, healing, big transitions, and all the messy, meaningful parts of growing together. Through it all, their bond has only grown stronger.
For Michelle’s 31st birthday, she got herself a puppy named Gibson—whom Stevie was initially hesitant about, but who is now arguably his favourite creature on Earth (next to Michelle, of course).
Eventually, they packed up their lives and moved to London with Gibson in tow, to pursue their Master’s degrees in Art and Psychotherapy. They’ve been growing ever since—navigating life’s beauty and chaos, hand in hand, with a lot of laughter, love, and late-night heart-to-hearts.
Now, they can’t wait to gather with their favourite people and celebrate this next chapter—one that’s been shaped by time, tenderness, and the choice to keep showing up for each other.
